Around SBN: A (hidden) Statistic for Gauging Schools’ Run Defenses

Discussing the State of the SB Nation?

I'm not exactly a weathered veteran of the SB Nation, but I think I've got the idea down pretty good.  The platform has gotten significantly larger, and the features way more sophisticated than even 6 months ago.

Memberships to most of the blogs have risen exponentially, and more and more of the articles written have gotten featured in larger media outlets.  Things are looking great, and that is just from the standpoint of a site author.  I can't imagine all of the behind the scenes stuff that goes on in the greater world of SBN.

The purpose of this FanPost however is to discuss some of the other FanPosts that get posted here.  It seems that most of the blogs here do a good job of moderating the spam posts, and keeping the posts within the scope and purpose of each blog.  I guess I am a bit confused as to the purpose of Blog Huddle.

It appears that this is a forum to discuss all things SBN.  Whether it is features, ideas, problems... it seems like this is the perfect forum for this.  Blez does a great job of keeping everyone up to date on the diffent sites, and the things that are going on around SBN.

But what's up with the FanPosts that get posted here that are merely links redirected to other sites?  Most sites would consider it spam.  What's up with random posts about specific teams?  Wouldn't the appropriate place to posts those things be on the team sites?

I am in no way trying to criticize this blog, just trying to understand the nature of some of the FanPosts that get posted here.  It seems like a good many of them don't really go along with the purpose of Blog Huddle.  Any insights?

I think the authors assume that more people will read their work if they post it on a site that isn't team specific.

And they don’t realize that the regular readers of this blog are usually smaller in number than any other blog. Either that, or they assume that this IS SB Nation, and that all the readers who talk about the 200+ SBN blogs are talking about this site.

My feeling was that they're posting entire stories here

so it isn’t like they’re just posting a small snippet and then encourage people to go to their sites. If they did that, I’d be more inclined to delete them. But I’m more than willing to be more rigid about things if that’s what people want.

Don't get me wrong,

I’m not trying to criticize, I was just feel like things should be filed accordingly. If it’s a team-specific post, why post it at Blog Huddle instead of the team site? Then again, like I said before, I may be missing the purpose of BH. Maybe it is just a general forum for anything sports-related…

I swear I probably have OCD, so I'm probably not the best representative of the average SBN user, but I'd have to agree with GB.

Isn’t their anyway to tell the author to repost it on the proper site?
