Local newspapers' sports power was already under erosion on other fronts, besides ESPN: SB Nation has put together the best collection of team-based blogs found online, across every sport, in every market, with coverage that -- yes -- complements local news, but also goes a long way to displace it. Its distribution deal with Yahoo -- itself a traffic firehose -- amplified that power exponentially.

Bless You Boys on local radio
Ian Casselberry of BlessYouBoys.com was a guest on a Michigan news talk radio morning show to discuss the Detroit Tigers' surprising start to the season.
I think this is one step too far with the ads.
Adding the new sidebar ads has slowed load times to a crawl. Not sure why that one specifically has done it, but It seems to be the straw that has broken the camel's back.
