Much is made in the National Hockey League over the travel differences between playing in the Western Conference and playing in the Eastern Conference. SB Nation's Nashville Predators blog On the Forecheck has an incredible breakdown of the 2009-2010 NHL Schedule, which was released yesterday. Turns out my New Jersey Devils will be traveling an extra 2,051 miles in 09-10 compared to 08-09 plus they'll play one more back-to-back series this upcoming season. That's a lot of extra miles but the total doesn't compare to the ridiculous overall mileage teams like the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames will have to go.
